Worldcon 75 is here! Some of you will be in Helsinki already. But whenever you’re travelling, by whatever means, we hope you have a good and safe journey. We’ve put together some practical information about arriving and registering at Messukeskus; we hope you find it useful.
You can find information on getting to Messukeskus on our web site, and there’s even more in our Progress Report 5. You’ll need to buy tickets as normal to reach Messukeskus, but don’t forget that you’ll receive a free travel pass for the duration of the convention when you register.
Registration will be located at the South entrance of Messukeskus. There will be a “Pre-registered” queue for those who have purchased memberships or day passes in advance, and a separate queue for walk-in purchases. People with access needs can register at the access desk, where there is room for wheelchairs and places to sit down. In addition, we have a separate registration for Hugo finalists, Programme participants and Traders.
Registration will open every day at 09:00 and stays open until 20:00 (14:00 on Sunday). We will be working hard to minimise the queues on Wednesday, and we would be grateful if you can assist us by making sure to bring your registration barcode and photo ID with you when you arrive.
Your registration barcode has already been sent to you by e-mail, but you can now also view it at https://members.worldcon.fi. (Follow that link. If your browser isn’t already logged in there, enter the e-mail address with which you registered for the convention. You’ll be sent a link by e-mail that will allow you to view your barcode and the rest of your membership information.)
Customise your badge name
By default, your convention badge will contain the ‘public name’ that you’ve already given us (or your legal name, if you haven’t provided a public name). However, you can customise your badge name further at https://members.worldcon.fi. You can do this up to just a few minutes before you arrive at Registration.
Getting online – wifi at Messukeskus
The wireless network at the convention centre is called ‘Messukeskus’, and you should be able to connect easily – no password or login screen required.
Code of Conduct and other rules
We wish you, and all of us, a happy and comfortable convention. To help make it so, please read through our Code of Conduct and other rules before you arrive. Worldcon 75 brings together people from different countries and cultures, and is subject to Finnish law. Our Code of Conduct sets out expectations, guidelines and requirements, and all participants are expected to abide by it. Thank you in advance.
We look forward to seeing you very soon in Helsinki, and hope you have a wonderful time!
